Couple Therapy & Marriage Counselling in Lagos

Marriage Counselling in Lagos and Online

Most couples do not arrive after one bad argument. They arrive after the same argument has repeated itself for years in different clothing. The disagreement about money is really about respect. The disagreement about their mother is really about loyalty. The silence after a fight lasts longer each time, and neither person quite remembers how it started.

Whether you are looking for couple therapy or marriage counselling in Lagos, the work is the same and the stage does not matter. We see couples who are dating, engaged, newly married, and twenty years in, in person and online.

Couple therapy is where that pattern gets named and interrupted. We work with couples across Lagos and online, whether you are dating, engaged, newly married, or twenty years in.

What Couples Bring to Sessions

  • Conversations that turn into arguments before either person feels heard
  • Trust that has been damaged and neither of you knows how to rebuild
  • Silence, withdrawal, or one partner shutting down under pressure
  • Disagreements about money, family obligations, or in-laws
  • Feeling like housemates rather than partners
  • Different expectations about the future you have never fully discussed
  • The pressure to appear fine to everyone outside the marriage

How Couple Sessions Work

Sessions run for an hour, in person in Lagos or online by video. We usually begin by understanding what brought you here and agreeing on what the work should focus on, so neither of you is guessing at the direction.

We do not work in single sessions. One conversation can bring relief, but it rarely changes a pattern. Sessions are structured as a short programme with a clear end point rather than an open commitment.

Sessions are not a courtroom. We are not here to decide who was right. Both partners leave understanding the other better than when they arrived.

Questions Couples Ask

What if my partner will not come?
Start on your own. A great deal shifts when one person changes how they respond, and partners often join later once they see the difference rather than being talked into it.

Will you take sides?
No. If one of you leaves feeling ganged up on, the work has failed.

Is it too late for us?
Couples arrive at very different stages. Some are preventing damage, others are repairing it. Come and find out rather than deciding on your own.

Can we come if we are not married?
Yes. We work with couples who are dating, engaged and married. The work is the same, and starting earlier usually means less to untangle.

We tried counselling before and it did not help. Why would this be different?
Often because the previous work stayed at the level of the argument rather than the pattern underneath it. Tell us what happened last time. It genuinely helps us avoid repeating it.

Does this conflict with our faith?
Not at all. Prayer and counselling are not in competition. Many of our clients hold both.
