Let us talk about it honestly, because therapy pricing in Lagos is not something people discuss openly. Most practices will not put a number on a page. You have to send a message, wait, and then brace yourself for whatever comes back. That silence keeps a lot of people from getting help they actually need, so here are our numbers.
What therapy costs at Shelistens
Individual therapy starts at ₦90,000 for three sessions.
Couple therapy starts at ₦180,000 for three sessions.
Premarital counselling for one couple is ₦300,000 for seven sessions. Our premarital group class, where you go through the same seven sessions alongside other couples preparing for marriage, is ₦150,000 per couple.
Home therapy sessions, where we come to you, are ₦160,000 per session on the mainland and ₦195,000 on the island.
Longer packages run up to eight sessions, and in-person sessions cost more than online ones. At the top of the range, individual packages reach ₦259,000 and couple packages ₦518,000.
Those are real figures, not starting points that climb once you enquire.
Why packages and not single sessions
We do not sell one-off sessions, and that is deliberate.
One session gives you a glimpse. A package gives you a shift.
If you have been carrying a pattern for five years, or ten, or twenty, one conversation is not going to undo it. You will leave feeling lighter, and by the following week you will be back where you started. What actually changes things is showing up consistently, doing the work over time, with someone who knows your story well enough to notice what you keep avoiding.
Three sessions is our minimum because it is the smallest amount of work that produces something you can still feel a month later. Home therapy is the one exception, sold by the session, because it usually serves a different need.
Does online cost less than in person?
Yes, and that is not a lesser version of the service.
Online sessions run for the same hour, cover the same ground, and are held to the same standard. What you save is the traffic, the fuel, and the two hours of your evening that Lagos would otherwise take from you. Many of our clients in Lekki and Ikeja book online for exactly that reason.
It also means distance stops being a barrier. We work with Nigerians in London, Toronto, Dubai and Johannesburg who want to talk to someone who understands the family dynamics, the church, the in-laws, and does not need any of it explained.
Is it worth it?
Here is the question nobody asks but everybody should.
If the work you do across those sessions changes how you handle conflict in your marriage, that change does not expire when the last session ends. It shows up in every disagreement, every difficult season, every year of that relationship. If your marriage runs thirty years, you carry what you learned into all thirty.
If you are doing individual work, understanding your patterns, learning to set a boundary and hold it, working out what you actually want as opposed to what is expected of you, that becomes part of how you parent, how you lead, how you handle pressure.
Set against that, ₦90,000 spread across three sessions is roughly what many households spend on a weekend that nobody remembers by Tuesday.
