About Us
Where Conversations Lead to Clarity, Healing, and Stronger Relationships
Why This Practice Exists
Most people in Lagos do not grow up being taught how to handle a difficult conversation. We learn to endure, to keep the peace, to manage. What we rarely learn is how to say what we actually mean, or what to do when someone we love disappoints us.
Shelistens Therapy and Consulting exists to fill that gap. We are a relationship and emotional wellbeing practice, working with people in person in Lagos and online across Nigeria and abroad.
How We Work
This is talk therapy, focused on relationships, communication, boundaries, conflict and emotional regulation. It is practical work. You should leave a session with something you can actually use, not just something you understood.
We do not work in single sessions. One conversation brings relief, but patterns take more than that to shift, so sessions are structured as a short programme with a clear direction and a clear end point.
Where someone needs care that sits outside our scope, we say so and connect them to the right professional. That conversation happens inside the session, not instead of it. Nobody is turned away at the door.
Who We Work With
Individuals looking for clarity about themselves and their relationships. Couples wanting to communicate without it ending in conflict. Engaged couples preparing properly for marriage rather than only for a wedding. Organisations building teams that can handle pressure without breaking the people in them.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Alongside private practice, Shelistens delivers emotional intelligence and wellbeing training inside organisations, and speaks publicly on relationships, communication and emotional health at conferences and events across Lagos.
We also run DEIL, an annual summer programme teaching young people aged ten to sixteen the emotional skills most of us had to learn the hard way.
